I was recently in the city of Ormoc to cover the first-ever Pina Festival. Since we had enough time before our scheduled flight back to Cebu City, our hosts decided to do something awesome. They took us to the famed Kalanggaman Island for a day in the sun. I was pretty pumped since this was my very first time in this part of the country. Thank you, guys! 🙂
Kalanggaman Island is one of the Philippines’ most-visited tourist destinations. Located in Palompon in the province of Leyte, Kalanggaman is about one hour by boat from the mainland. If you’re traveling from Ormoc City, the trip to Palompon would take approximately one and a half hours by bus (or faster by v-hire.)
Check out my photos of Kalanggaman Island below.
Here is a shot of my travel buddy Satchmo enjoying a quiet morning at the beach.
Kalanggaman’s crystal clear waters make the island a tourist favorite. Just take a look at how beautiful that is!
A lone lifeguard chair sits at the ‘mouth’ of the sandbar. During the busy months, tourists fill this beach.
In this photo, a tour boat is docked at the island’s famous sandbar.

The northern end of the island is rocky but the view is gorgeous.
Look at those beautiful colors!
Visitors can rent out one of these beautiful Wigwam huts.
Waiting for sunset. This is exciting!
