After our lunch at Pagatpat Seafoods Restaurant in Matalom, it was finally time to travel to Pintuyan Dive Resort in the town of Pintuyan. One of the town’s trusted resorts, Pintuyan Dive Resort would serve as our home base for the next couple of days as we explored the area and enjoyed our Southern Leyte adventure.
Pintuyan Dive Resort
As you all know, having a comfortable place to return to after a day of exploring is very important to me. And since the group had several places to visit and activities lined up for this trip, getting a good night’s sleep was definitely non-negotiable.

Pintuyan is a coastal municipality known for its connection to the sea and its appeal to visitors who want to experience a quieter side of the province. Unlike more commercial tourist destinations in the province, the town offers a more laid-back setting where the sea, local communities, and everyday coastal life are part of the experience.

Staying at Pintuyan Dive Resort made a lot of sense. It was clean, secure, comfortable, and had a wonderful location. Definitely a convenient starting point for discovering what Pintuyan had to offer.
A Base for Our Southern Leyte Adventure
Pintuyan Dive Resort was a great choice for the men and women who planned our itinerary. Since the group needed a place to rest between trips around the area and prepare for the next day’s adventures, they couldn’t have picked a better option.
Pintuyan Dive Resort sits just along the highway and on the edge of the water in Barangay Caubang, Liloan–San Ricardo Road in the town of Pintuyan. Opened since 2010, the resort features private bungalows and a building that can house more than a dozen guests.

The resort’s name reflects Pintuyan’s strong connection to the ocean. The municipality has gained attention among visitors interested in marine life, particularly those hoping to experience the waters off Southern Leyte.
For travelers who want to explore the coastal attractions of Pintuyan, choosing PDR can make the trip more convenient. Especially since the resort offers diving activities and whale shark tours, as well.
Pintuyan and Its Coastal Charm
Part of the appeal of visiting Pintuyan is getting to experience a destination that feels different from the usual coastal getaway. Life here is closely connected to the sea, and the town offers opportunities to appreciate Southern Leyte’s coastal scenery and local way of life.

Pintuyan is known for its unique ‘rocky’ beaches. The rocks aren’t rough but smooth and polished. Had to stop myself really hard from grabbing a few and placing them in my bag. Hehe.

For me, the stay at Pintuyan Dive Resort was just one part of a bigger adventure. We had made the journey from Cebu to explore this side of Southern Leyte. And staying in Pintuyan put us closer to the experiences we came for.

Traveling to places like this is also a reminder that there is more to discover in the Philippines beyond its popular tourist spots. Sometimes, the best trips involve visiting smaller towns, meeting local people, and seeing a destination at a slower pace.
Our Home in Pintuyan
If Pintuyan is on your Southern Leyte itinerary, Pintuyan Dive Resort is one accommodation option worth checking out, especially if you want to stay in the town while exploring its coastal attractions.
As with any accommodation, it is best to contact the resort directly for updated room rates, availability, amenities, and other arrangements before your visit. I have to say, PDR isn’t like other massive seaside resorts. This humble resort is quiet and small. However, it has great WI-FI, a huge lounge area, and a dining area where you can meet other guests. They also have a swimming pool and a great view of the ocean!

Southern Leyte has plenty of places that deserve a spot on a traveler’s itinerary, and Pintuyan is one destination to consider if you enjoy coastal adventures and exploring places beyond the usual tourist trail.
By the way, our stay was made more memorable thanks to these beautiful resident grumpies! But don’t be fooled. They may look mad most of the time but they are truly sweet and touchy.

Stayed tuned for more posts on Pintuyan in the coming days!
