Today’s blog is quite different from all the other stuff that I usually post. This one is a bit more personal. A bit more intimate. Today, I am going to talk about my birthday.
Slow and Easy
See, I never do big things on my birthday. I don’t hold expensive parties, fancy trips outside the country, or crazy blowouts for friends and officemates. Nope.
Like my past birthdays, my birthday this year started off slow and easy. My plan was to go to the Basilica to light some candles, try to respond to all the birthday greetings on Facebook, and have a simple family dinner in the evening.
But as you may have already guessed, something came up. Just before noon, I got a birthday greeting from one of my friends on the site. She said that as a birthday gift, she would like to invite me to her place of employment and treat me (and my plus 1) to a lovely dinner. Long story short, I ended up saying yes.
The first order of business: a visit to the Basilica Minore del Santo to see ‘Him’ and to light some candles.
A Birthday Feast
After the quick visit, it was time to proceed to the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan. My friend Shanelle works here as a Marketing Communications Officer. But since my mom and I arrived past her work hours, she informed me that Ms. Olive will be there to take good care of us. How awesome!
The sumptuous Fourth of July buffet spread at Uno Cafe was a sight to behold. It was amazing!
A Thankful Heart
As the night was coming to a close, (after several platefuls, that is,) I told Ms. Olive that we will be on our way. She told us to wait for a bit as she needed to take care of a few other customers. What I didn’t know was that she actually assembled some of the staff on the floor to present to me this delicious birthday cake. WOW!
Again, to all those who remembered, thank you very much! God bless you all! 🙂
PS: The following day, to my surprise, Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan also sent me a birth gift. Thank you Jope and Mia! 🙂
The delicious cake was a nice touch.too! Thank you so much!
Once again, to everyone who helped make this birthday a truly memorable one, thank you very much! 🙂
