I heard about Green Thumb Farm in Bohol when I did a quick gig with the local DOT regional office. I’ve always been fascinated by the farm-to-table concept so I actually had this farm in my bucket list. That is why I was ecstatic to find out that Green Thumb was included in our quick Bohol Familiarization Tour itinerary. They say if it’s meant to be, not even a typhoon can stand in the way. *wink
Green Thumb Farm
Green Thumb Farm is a spot in Corella, Bohol for those seeking a farm-to-table experience. What does this mean? Simply put, aside from being an actual farm, Green Thumb is also a dining spot that serves the very same items that they grow and produce. Cool, right?
Touring Green Thumb Farm
Our visit began with a guided tour of the farm, led by the passionate proprietor who shared the farm’s dedication to sustainable and organic practices. We visit the various ‘growing houses’ where the farm produces its very popular mushrooms. The farmer explained the farm’s commitment to using natural fertilizers and pest control methods, ensuring the quality and safety of their produce.
As we walked, we also learned about the different crops grown at Green Thumb. It was fascinating to see the care and attention given to each plant, from seed to harvest.
From Garden to Plate
After the enlightening tour, we were ushered into a charming open-air dining area. Here, the farm’s skilled chefs transformed the fresh ingredients we had just seen into a culinary masterpiece. The menu, a celebration of local and seasonal flavors, was a true testament to the farm’s philosophy.
We sampled various delectable dishes including the mushroom siomai, the mushroom sisig, the mushroom pinakbet, the mushroom dinakdakan, and even the mushroom tempura and mushroom bulaklak. I admit, the taste can be quite different but I truly admire the vision and innovation behind these dishes.
We also got to try the super fresh Ube Smoothie.
